There were 105 total confidence points available to earn during this season's week 5 competition. Both Blackjack and 4th and 9ers needed 9 wins to earn 61 of those points. Last year, that would have been good for a 34th place finish, but this season, Blackjack and 4th and 9ers share the week 5 Confidence crown with the lowest winning score in the history of the UPsP. Both players had the Saints, Panthers, and Jags to win, which propelled them to the top of the standings, edging out 1/2 Point and BGEIDT who were in the lead heading into MFN, but ended up one point behind the leaders at 60.
Blackjack, 4th and 9ers, and whodat504 were all able to navigate their way through the upsets to end up with 9 total wins (and you know whodat504 had his Saints pulling out a win) to end up on top of the Pickem' pile. All three players were close to the final Jags score, but Blackjack was 2 points closer than 4th and 9ers to win the week 5 Pickem' contest on the first tie-breaker and complete the semi-sweep, his second win in three weeks.
The 49ers, Saints, Broncos, Panthers, Texans, Titans, Bucs, Commanders, Patriots, and Jags were all underdogs in week 5 and they all won. A shocking 10 upsets meant there was some chaos in the Survivor contest. After a few weeks of relative quiet for the Survivors, 42 players lost lives in week 5, with 9 players being eliminated completely. The damage was spread fairly evenly between the Rams, Cardinals, and Bills, while the winners relied heavily on the Lions and Colts to see them to safety. MightyCardinal earned the 'bold move of the week' award by taking the underdog Bucs as his Survivor and pulled out a victory. Now only 29 players remain with out a loss in the Survivor contest.
